Race Proposal: The Icaans Empty
PostSubject: Race Proposal: The Icaans   Race Proposal: The Icaans EmptyTue Aug 02, 2011 3:39 am

The Icaan race

Axude was a planet far-off from Earth. It was mostly land, with little water, in the opposite ratio that Earth is. Axude was approximately 72% land, and 28% water. Because of this, many groups of people were focusing around the coastlines, as water was hard to find inland. Even so, this planet inhabited a large race, known as the Icaan. The Icaan had nearly 100 million individuals at the height of their population, but slowly decreased as the planet grew uninhabitable.

The Icaan’s were a very active society located on the planet Axude. The average Icaan lived to around 50 Earth years. Males were generally smaller than females. Males on average reached a height of around 5’10’’, give or take a few inches. Females on average reached a height of 6’4’’. They were a humanoid species and had a slight blue discoloration to their skin. Icaan’s hair color is primarily white, although some dye their hair to show superiority in military ranking over others. The Icaan’s have more of a claw-like nail, making them quite fierce in hand-to-hand combat, but this was more of a defensive skill, as it would not be able to do serious amounts of damage. Aside from these slight physical appearances, the Icaan’s weren’t all that strong of a race.

To make up for their lack of strength, the Icaan’s were great tacticians. Their skills at tacticians really expanded when the appointed leader of one of the smaller nations on Axude went on a planet-wide conquest to unite all Icaans in the Earth year of 1324. This leader, named Tara Sheruug used her great mind to utilize her troops into taking over nearby nations. Once she was considered a positive influence on these invaded countries, other countries started to accept her as their leader for the benefits in the economy and to have a unified monetary system. Tara had successfully unified the planet by the year 1340. During that same year, she chose some great-minded individuals to help her rule, and to create a set of laws to be used throughout the world. These great minds that were chosen were Ingord Zenic, Honen Bacal, Vorcatt Kiziam, Chanagl Mani and Koshul Shurah.

These minds along with Tara Sheruug supervising and watching carefully over them, developed the Kish Code. The Kish Code had a list of almost 1000 laws, each going in-depth and the severity of the punishments depended on the law. Each of these members, after taking nearly 5 years developing and refining these laws, joined the Council. The Council is a group of 5 members, each of which were chosen by the previous Council members. When one was dying or close to dying, they would announce their successor, and that one person would take their spot on the Council. Near the year 1355, Tara Sheruug was in the later stages of life and had been thinking hard about whether or not she wanted to appoint a successor, as she never had children. She died unexpectedly one night, before ever making a choice. This led riots against the Council, claiming that they didn’t tell them the truth, and that she had chosen a successor. After a few months of internal distress put on the nation by a certain group of individuals, the public calmed down. The Council chose to not appoint a successor, and rather, make the Council the head of government.

~~~~~~~~~Fast forwarding from 1355 to around 1890~~~~~~~~(nothing majorly important happened in those 500 years. New scientific breakthroughs were found, greatly modernizing their planet which the Council seats rotated with each generation. All seemed great except for a few things, where i shall go into greater detail later. See my note at the bottom.).
In 1892, a group called the Z’Yorel formed. They were a small group of around 100,000 members that wanted change. This was at the time where the population of 100 million was reached. As individuals, they brought problems and issues about political corruption and poverty to the Council’s eyes, but they however would not do anything about it. They claimed that local governments would take care of these issues and left it at that. However, the local governments were the politically corrupt. They took money from the people with outrageous taxes and claims that it will go towards “science”. This group, the Z’Yorel was determined to change the government, and to remove the corruption.
For the next 10 years or so, the Z’Yorel gained power by continuously having people join, and was donated large sums of money by the richer members in the group to fund their research. This research included scientific research that could be used as weapons against the government, along with funding currently made weapons, such as guns. The Z’Yorel mostly stood in the dark for those 10 years, but now they have obtained vast amount of firearms and other necessities. They were at almost 150,000 members, which would be a decent sized force as the army was not that big. The government had this “army” mostly for public appeal and show.
In 1905, the Z’Yorel deployed the first guerilla army, showing once again, their innate tactical abilities. This small force of roughly 1000 men and women was led by the man Mirax Inebr. He led this group through cover in the night to the town Gahydr. He used a remote way of talking to the group while he stood on the nearby cliff, witnessing the entire act. He designated which buildings in this city to strike. Mirax didn’t want unneeded casualties in these precision strikes, and so if anyone got in their way, they were ordered to be shot. They were also ordered to shoot their targets when in sight. The groups broke into houses and offices silently and efficiently. The targets were taken down instantly, and the Z’Yorel left the town just as fast as they showed up. This first precision strike in the town Gahydr became an example of future cities to come.
The Council became worried when city after city in an unorthodox pattern were being struck, all led by members of the Z’Yorel with their own guerilla forces. There were about 120 different groups, all striking separate cities. Every week, approximately 140 cities or towns were struck by these forces, and none of them could see it coming. Their attack style was unrestrained and very erratic. This led the Council to strengthen their own army to hold off the guerilla forces, but to no avail. The parts of the world that had seen how well these forces penetrated well-barricaded cities and the devastating blows they did kept them from volunteering for the Army. No one who had seen this in person wanted get in the way of this killing. The other parts of the world which had not been struck yet were even worse. The rumors that spread were so terrifying for them; they’d rather join the Z’Yorel to keep from getting killed by the Z’Yorel.
Years go on and it becomes 1914. The world is split in half. One side is the old, law-abiding side ruled by the Council and the other side is the Z’Yorel ruled nation of freedom. The world has become a war-strewn battlefield with only a few locations left untouched. The race has been going on to build up the largest armies, weapon stockpiles, and developing new forms of warfare and technology. The only thing left is to fight, and that is what they plan to do. New experimental warfare technology has been developed on the Council’s side, including flight warfare along with new weapons. The Council hired scientists to develop new materials and hired others to design these new, more advanced weapons. Some of these scientists developed a material similar to Napalm. They flew over the Z’Yorel populated forests and dropped this burning material. It lit the trees and burned the inhabitants.
The Council did not think about the implications this would have on the rest of the world. Surely one drop of this material wouldn’t have a major effect on the world? Well, they dropped it in the heart of the Z’Yorel nation, where there was little to no water. The material set the forests ablaze, and it never stopped. The forest fire kept spreading, as these trees were lacking water and supplied the fire with lots of fuel. This fire burnt for two weeks, heading in all directions.
The fire eventually burnt out, after taking ΒΌ of the land as its casualty. The fire killed almost half of the Z’Yonel supporters, and it left it’s devastating path as a reminder to those who had used it. The damage done to the world was not worth it at all.
It was around 1930, and the civil war was just beginning. Air forces had been employed on both sides, but very little. It was more or less to transfer supplies to remote sides of the planet. Technology was advancing at an astounding rate. Both sides had been developing new weapons for 16 years and would test them in battle. 1930 though was the year that the planet grew quiet. The war so far left the planet ravaged and destroyed. The population dropped from 100 million people in 1892 to just 40 million in 1930. No side wanted more casualties, and this is what led them to the Agreement.
The Agreement was a pact signed by both nations of the world, one ruled by the Council, and the other side designated Teni Inebr as their representative. Teni Inebr was Mirax’s daughter. The Agreement was signed on the borders of both nations, which defined also defined the borders and agreed on a temporary truce. This truce was upheld until 1989.
NOTE: I’ve still got the next 1000 years to write, along with that 500 years of not interesting crap Very Happy. I’ve been busy so I’ve had to put off writing this, but posting it will give me motivation to edit and finish it. Razz
Wow, this is great. I really like how you're focusing on their background, but I'm not sure what they actually look like. I assume you'll get to the more physical stuff after you're done with the background. Keep up the good work! Very Happy
Everyone take notes this is the sort of thing I was looking for when I asked about races. Bleach I give you many Internets and you are now one of the people whose lore is baws (that is a list of like 5 people in the world by the way)
