New Race Proposal: The Elusunud(s) Empty
PostSubject: New Race Proposal: The Elusunud(s)   New Race Proposal: The Elusunud(s) EmptySat Sep 10, 2011 1:00 am

The Siten'Judii were a cheerful, happy race. They would live out every day in joy and wonder, with a smile on their faces, roaming their peaceful planet. Agriculture and herding was what they did, and they did it happily. All this came to a screeching halt one fateful day for them.
It was a sunny day, on the warm side of the year. Harvests had just came in. With a wrenching, tearing sound, ships arrived in orbit around their planet. A parasitic race, with no planet to call their own anymore, had come to take this one. Without warning, orbital missiles began falling around the globe, annihilating all they struck- and everything for hundreds of miles around them. In a matter of hours it was done. The Siten'Judii were absolutely wiped out. Not a single one of them survived, and their simple structures of wood were blown away. The invading race moved in, and began to harvest the planet for all it was worth, knowing the next planet on their list of "habitables"
What they did not know, however, was what effect the radiation was having on the previous owners of the planet. It seeped into their dead bodies like an ooze, infernal in purpose, divine in result. Weeks after the strike, consciousness returned to one of them.

A deep purple eye shot open. Light streamed in, and the pain rushed in like a current of water. En'tu Arak let out a scream as his entire body felt as if it was engulfed in fire. He felt his heart had stopped- and as if he no longer needed it. As the haze about his vision cleared, and the pain began to recede, he looked around, first at his surroundings. He was in a pile of bodies- of his own kind- sort of. The vibrant green hair that once coated them was now gone, replaced by bald, pale, tight to the bone flesh. He quickly looked down, fearing the worst, and confirming his fear. His skin was now clinging to the bone, and bleached. Despite how he looked, he felt better than he ever had- stronger, faster, smarter. Angrier. He thought back, trying to imagine why he'd be angry.
Startlingly, he remembered. He remembered Everything. The ships, the falling objects, thinking "What are those," and the flashes of light. Then fire, then blackness. He felt death. He knew what it was, recognized it, and embraced it. He realized that right now he was spitting in death's eye, and smiled a crooked smile. The ones who did this- they would meet death. They would meet death, and death would embrace them.

Over the next months, the invaders "civilized" the planet they had turned into a dead dust ball. Cities sprang up, and they started the process of mining out the planet. Of course, after they cleared the bodies (Out of sight, out of mind) they thought nothing of the slaughtered natives. En'tu Arak began to gather his kind. At first they rose in ones and twos, climbing out of the pile, confused, dazed, ready for En'tu's guidance. Then they rose in great droves, and finally, when they had all risen, or at least as many as were going to rise, they cremated the remaining bodies- dead as dead could truly be. Then they planned. A couple hundred thousand had risen, and now En'tu had them all under his wing.
None of them had ever fought a war, or even thought of fighting before. They had never felt aggression this great before. But now, that was all they felt. Sadness was converted to fury, and fury was used to fight. One night, they all snuck into the great cities, all wielding clubs and knives of iron. And as one, as a whole, they descended upon the sleeping forms of their invaders.

The city burned. The blood of their invaders ran thick through the streets. En'tu smiled as he watched it burn, and he looked upon his people with glee. They had all done perfectly. A couple thousand had died, here and there, but most of them remained. He smiled again, looking down at the healing wound across his chest, basking in the warm radiation of his planet. Complete contentment was his, and his people mirrored it.

The irradiation of their planet was a strong one, one that wouldn't go away for hundreds-if not thousands of years to come. And in this radiation, they sat. Not for any particular purpose- but for lack of purpose. They no longer felt hunger gnawing at their bellies, thirst aggravating their throats. They simply felt... Alive. Content. And so they sat, basking in this radiation, and this feeling of being alive.
Time slipped away, and two hundred years passed. Without warning, another wrenching sound came, as a hole was torn in the wall of their universe. A couple of their race slipped away, not that anyone noticed.

En'tu found himself somewhere else. The warm radiation that enveloped his planet was gone. Absolutely disappeared. He felt slightly sick, not being in it, but it was a passing feeling. He stood up, stretched his muscles, and looked about him. He felt a bit of radiation on his skin- but he looked up and saw it to be from the sun- not that great of a source.
And, for the first time in two hundred years, he felt... hunger. Without the radiation sustaining him, he suddenly felt hunger gnawing at his belly. A strange, small, four legged animal wandered towards him, curious. With a flash of his belt knife, he slashed it's throat. In a flurry of motion he began to devour the xig, and left when it had almost no flesh left for him to eat. Contented in his hunger, he began to search.

Weeks, and many, many more dead xigs later, he found what he was searching for. Strange, short, bipedal mammals roamed this strange structure, and he walked in, curious (another new feeling, he noted.) He simply walked up to it, and sat down, happy to wait.

Over the course of the next seven months, he learned the English language, and began to communicate with the strange, pink, mammals. Humans was what they called themselves, and he was happy to call them that. When asked what he called himself, he got another crooked smile on his face.
"Elusunuds." he replied. "Living dead."

Racial Specs:
Four to eight feet tall. Pale. Slow speakers.
Pros
Very strong, fairly fast
Immune to radiation- in fact, it sustains them. While in a heavily radioactive area, they need not eat nor drink nor sleep.
Slow thought, methodical processes of mind, make them excellent farmers.
They know how to fight, all of them are veterans of at least one battle.
Cons
Eats a whole lot when not in radiation. About 4 grown men's worth of food.
Slow thought, methodical processes of mind, makes them less adaptable in situations.
Will get weaker if out of radiation for very extended periods of time. As in, go two years with no radiation and you are dead.

I'll do all that later, I am tired now.
(I'll probably also edit it later. Once again, tired now.

Hmm... I actually find that I like them to be a light, sickly shade of green rather than a pale white.

Hmmm... Not sure that I like the look of these guys. If anyone has any better ideas for how they should look, I would love to hear it, because I'm really not satisfied with them. They were meant to be cyclopoid, but that can change.
And as before, simply remove the spaces in the link.

I'm confused, as if it takes them lengthy periods of time to think, how are they good at fighting?

Fighting requires quick-minded, agile, and intuitive thinking. If it takes them time to think what they need to do, then how could they be good at fighting?

Good point.
I meant that they are good at planning, as in, if they had planned for a fight, or planned for the eventuality of a fight, then they are excellent in said fight. However, if they are unprepared, they're pretty well screwed. They're good at fighting because they're just a bit stronger in body. Also they're a tad harder to kill, which helps them as well.
